A Sunday Evening with MiC LOWRY

01:44
Sunday evenings are often thought to be reserved for putting your feet up after a roast and trying not to dread the upcoming Monday. However I've started to really value Sundays for social outings. There was a time in the summer where it didn't feel like a Sunday if it didn't end up laughing with friends in a pub garden or wherever we could catch the sun. As winter rolled around I have to admit I like to hole up at home trying to keep warm.

One of the best Sunday evenings of the summer was when I went to see rising male vocal group MiC LOWRY.  I attended the show after a good friend scooped the tickets - shout out to Pisces Girl - and prompted me to be more than a casual listener.

Although they are easy on the eyes they are not just there to look pretty and prove to be good vocalists. Their lush five part harmonies will make you melt and they even do live instrumentals with Ben on keyboard and Michael on acoustic guitar. Delleile, Kaine and Akia offer their vocals to round off the group and they are all able to lead a song. They are mostly known for their mash-ups of cover material which blazes up social media every time they upload a video. That's mostly what their set was made up of, richly based in 90s and 00's R&B (SWV, Teedra Moses, D'Angelo) with nods to it's modern form (Bryson Tiller, Party Next Door, Tory Lanez).

My favourite mash up in the live show is the Don't/Exchange/Say It and Be Your Girl - a seamless acoustic blend of the recent trap soul genre pioneered by Tiller and Lanez with the 2004 Moses classic in the mix. No wonder it's racked up almost 2 million views and so much more when social media is factored in.

They even threw in Bob Marley's "Jammin'" at the request of the crowd. Towards the end of the set the lads tapped into their northern soul when they bravely took on D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does it Feel)". Led by Ben on the keys and vocals, they did a fine job.

The best part was getting to meet the boys after the show. We managed to chat to each of them and take pictures! They had shows pretty much every night up and down the country but were gracious enough to have something to say, hugs and pictures for the fans.

Now February has come around and the boys have gotten bigger a better. Touring several European cities in support of Justin Beiber's tour, mainstream TV and radio bookings, racking up streams and upgrading their venues for their headlining tour  - not even 6 months later! Here's hoping the lovable Liverpool lads go even further in their careers.

Unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict I won't be able to go this time around to their Birmingham show. Hit me up if you need a ticket.

Introducing, the LuluLoves Lifestyle

18:10
Introducing me...I'm a 20-something finding her way through life. While life is full of uncertainty and downsides I make a point to seek out the positive, have fun and do the best playing the hand I was dealt. I hope my nature is reflected in this blog, inspires somebody and makes them think or smile.

My life feels ...without structure since I finished a masters degree and while I try to find my footing as a real adult, I thought - why not start a blog? After years studying the sciences my heart longs for my brain to tap back in to its creative side. I've always adored the artfulness words and images and I want to show that with this blog. It would be nice to have somewhere to type away my thoughts and show my pictures after an adventurous or even dull day day. Even if many people don't see this. I can look back on fond memories on my blog.

I hope you enjoy the LuluLoves Lifestyle...
